Leonard Baskin

Leonard Baskin  August 15, 1922 - June 3, 2000

considered by many authorities to have been America's most important artist.  Many artists consider Le onard to have been  a major influence on their development . Leonard possesed a massive intellect that ranged through art, litature, languages, music, etc.  He possesed a sh arp wit and a sharper  tongue that could puncture pretension and phoniness any time he met it.     Baskin work in both three and two dimensions can be found in nearly every museum in the wo rld.    Despite Leonard's talent and fame it is still possible to posess his work at figures far below th eir artistic value.                  Some public co lletions of Leonard's work. Museum of modern art, New York; British museum, Londo; Bezelet National museum,Jerusalem,Isreal: Vatican Mu seum, Vatican Ciaty; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Hirshorn Museum; Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; an d The Roosevelt Memorial, Washington DC.     Additional information on Baskin can be found in a talk given by W.P. Bishop at the Platkin Mu seum of Judaica in 2001. Copies of this  talk can be obtained faor $8.75 postage included.
