FRITZ SCHOLDER
Octboer 6, 1937 -- February 10, 2005
In a life cut much too short Fritz did more to change the look of Native American Art than any other artist. His work can be found in major collections and museums around the World.
In No. 2008 the Smithsonian opened a major retrospective for Fritz partly in Washington D.C. at the National Museum of the American Indian and partly in New York at the George Gustav Heye Center.
Select public collections: Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada; Chicago Art Institute, Ill.; Brooklyn Museum, New York; Heard Museum, Phoenix; Biblioteque National, Paris; Hirschhorn Museum, Washington D.C.; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona; and many others.
An interesting film on Fritz is titled "Scholder, Painting the Paradox".
